The Kids Are Alright. Anti Lesbian Story

Honestly I couldn't wait to see 'The Kids Are Alright'
A lesbian themed movie with Julianne Moore. What more could you ask for.

And with all the reviews of the film and all that I really was ready to fall in love with it

But after watching it I suspect I may have seen the wrong movie.

Sure 'The Kids Are Alright' is about a lesbian couple.

And yes it has Julianne Moore in it, who I have a lot of respect for.

But....

If there was ever a story about reasons not to have a lesbian relationship, this was it.

Let's look at a few Lesbian versus heterosexual parallels going on

Nic (played by Annette Benning) treats her wife Jules (the Julianne Moore character)with contempt and disrespect. Paul (Mark Ruffalo) on the other hand is genuinely interested in Jules point of view

Sex with Nic is ..... Lets not go there
Sex with Mark...... Amazing.

Need I go on

So in what way is this a lesbian interest movie?

The high point of the movie was Mark Ruffalo

Callie and Arizona Grey's Lesbian Romance

Lesbians everywhere would approve of the great romance in Grey's anatomy. The Callie Torres/Arizona Robbins love story starts in season 5 and it just gets better and better

Great that finally a major TV series is not afraid to portray a healthy lesbian relationship as a natural part of day to day routine
Great stuff

Came across this video on you tube and just had to share it with you

Enjoy

The Hunger Lesbian Movie Susan Sarandon

The hunger is one of those eternal (no pun intended) lesbian interest movies that was as ageless in 1983 when it was first made as now

The hunger is the lesbian vampire story that is not stereotypical

Starring Catherine Deneuve as Miriam, an Egyptian vampire who selects for herself a solemate every few hundred years. Her reward for them is 'eternal youth' in exchange for their love and companionship

Sarah (Susan Sarandon) is the new object of Miriam's affection now that her current partner is aging.

From the moment the two women meet, something changes radically for Sarah

A beautiful film with an achingly beautiful soundtrack

Enjoy

Michelle Williams And Chloe Sevigny If These Walls Could Talk 2

Was watching this movie for the nth time and thought I'd share it with you
If these walls could talk 2 is one of my favorites especially the first period with Vanessa Redgrave.

The thing about this movie is it talks about some injustices against lesbian women (first part) and some difficulties faced by us (third part) without overstating things or bashing you over the head with an agenda
A must watch lesbian movie

Hannah Free What This Lesbian Thinks

When I first came across a trailer for Hannah Free I was soooo excited. Finally we get to see Sharon Gless as a lesbian. It was going to be awesome

So now that I have seen it what does this lesbian think.

Hannah Free had the potential to be a great movie, in the league of "The World Unseen" and "Loving Annabelle" ...but

Some of the acting was difficult to believe

The story is a very sensitive one and Sharon did a great job. But it really takes all the actors to make a good film. I must say Young Rachael played by Ann Hagemann was excellent. And so was Greta [the great-granddaughter] acted by Jacqui Jackson.

Overall a movie I am glad I watched but it could have been so much better. I expect some of my disappointment is due to my impossibly high expectations from Sharon Gless

Still worth a watch

Lesbian Movie From France. Je Te Mangerais

I don't know if you can call this a lesbian interest movie.

It certainly is a movie about two girls who have a lesbian relationship.

Emma and Marie for one reason or the other end up living together while Marie studies to be a classical pianist and Emma a medical student. A friendship soon grows into a lesbian relationship which is frightening in it's intensity.

Also called "Highly strung" in the UK and "You will be mine" this dark lesbian themed movie is well worth watching

The Secret Diaries Of Miss Anne Lister Lesbian Movie

The secret diaries of Miss Anne Lister is one of those lesbian movies based on real life events. Anne Lister was a wealthy woman from Yorkshire who lived in the 18oo's and was a lesbian. And being a lesbian in the 1800's was obviously a no-no so she had to keep her love for women secret. Having said that she lived with her lesbian partner, good for her.

Anne Lister kept several diaries and the movie, the secret diaries of Miss Anne Lister, is based on the contents of her Diary

The movie was shown at the 24th BFI London lesbian and gay film festival in March and is due to air on British television, BBC2 on the 31st of May at 9pm

Crystal Chappell Nominated For Daytime Emmy Award

Crystal Chappell has been nominated for a daytime Emmy award for her role in Guiding light

Crystal is nominated in the category of outstanding lead actress in a drama series

Crystal has in the last couple of years domne a lot for lesbian visibility although she is straight.

In Guiding light, her character Olivia was a straight woman who found herself falling in love with a Natalia. A very popular story with the lesbian community, the story also caused a lot of controversy because of the distinct absence of any on scene lesbian kiss, well there was one. It would not be such a big deal except that it was an obvious and deliberate omission that left the story unsatisfactory

Here is a clip of Crystal Chappell in Guiding light

Encouraged by the support and admiration of the lesbian community, Crystal went on to co-produce a lesbian interest web series called Venice the series. The first season of Venice was hugely successful and the second season is due to start in summer

Here is a clip of Crystal in Venice the series

Lesbian Movie Review Out At The Wedding

Out at the wedding is a hilarious movie with Cathy Debuono at her funniest. Small part by Jill Bennett.
Risa is an out of work 'artist' who is hired by Alex and Jonathan to pretend to be Alex's lesbian partner. No Alex is not really a lesbian but a gaff by Jonathan at Alex's sister's [Jeannie] wedding led to Jeannie believing and embracing her sisters 'sexuality.

Things get interesting when Jeannie, the recently married sister meets Risa, the out lesbian who is 'Alex's girlfriend'

What's Cooking Lesbian Interest Movie

The lesbian story in What's cooking is so tender and fresh and real. What's cooking is basically a look at four families preparing for thanksgiving and seeks to show the behind closed doors aspect of most family relationships
The lesbian story features Kyra Sedgwick as Rachel and Juliana Marguiles as Carla in a loving lesbian relationship. Problem is Rachel's parents have a little trouble about their daughter's lesbian status and are too embarrassed to let their relatives know

Kyra Sedgwick and Julianna Marguiles make a very convinvcing and natural lesbian couple.

Lesbian Christian Jennifer Knapp

Jennifer Knapp honestly is not someone I was aware of. Perhaps because she is big on the christian music scene and I tend to go more for classical music. But her recent coming out as a lesbian woman has hit almost every forum and online magazine that has anything to do with us lesbians.

And I am thinking, what's the big deal!!
Jeniffer Knapp is a christian... Good for her
Jennifer Knapp is a lesbian.... And ???
Not sure if all the fuss is about being a lesbian and christian. I thought that in the current decade we were enlightened enough to realize one is not exclusive of the other.

Perhaps I should give you a little background. About 7 years ago, Jennifer took a break from her thriving christian music career, raising a flurry of rumors.

Is she burnt out, has she lost her mojo. Crikey is she a lesbian?

And now she has come back to making music and has come out as a lesbian, I think it was in this interview at christianity today, and our imagination is working overtime. Because Jennifer Knapp's being lesbian has got to have something to do with her sudden exit from the christian music scene, hasn't it?

At least it makes a good headline.

But you know when you look at thinks with a clear head, there is nothing to suggest any relation between the two events.

And we are forgetting something. It takes a lot of courage for someone who is prominent in the christian world to come out. There is still so much confusion about God's stance on us poor lesbians

To Jennifer I say good job and good luck with the new album. You can here some samples at Jennifer Knapp's official website. I had a listen and will be definitely buy the album when it is released in May

Lesbian Kiss In Heroes

Heroes has been a favorite of mine since it started. Great story, imaginative plot and interesting characters.
But no lesbian story or so I thought
And then there was Claire and Gretchen

The lesbian kiss was so topical we were all talking about it for ages before it aired

And when it did air...no complaints here

A clip of the lesbian kiss in Heroes

I don't think anyone saw a lesbian storyline looming for Claire. Appparently, the idea of a lesbian story was Hayden Panettiere's, the lady who acts Claire

Way to go Hayden!

Lesbian Kiss, Mariska and SVU

Lesbian!

At least that's what we hoped for since Mariska Hargitay started in law and order SVU, I think in the late 90's.

And then she got married.. to a really cool chap actually, and we all thought fair game, she's straight.

But there was always the hope that her character Olivia Benson in SVU may develop a lesbian relationship

After all she, i.e. Olivia, has always seemed sympathetic to lesbian issues in the series

But admittedly there is also a huge wave of Olivia/Elliot supporters

Anyway I thought the lesbian sector was in for a real treat when I heard about/ or read about an upcoming lesbian kiss on SVU.

Here is the preview of the "lesbian scene"

Hmmm. I guess the Olivia/ Elliot chapter wins

Viola Di Mare Lesbian Movie Review

Viola Di Mare has been described by some as more than just a lesbian movie. It's based in Sicily and is basically about two childhood friends Sara and Angela. Best friends, they get separated when Sara moves away, but Angela never stops waiting for her.

Many years later, Sara returns, a fully grown woman with concerns about marriage and family. Despite this, it does not take long for their friendship to develop into a lesbian relationship.

There are the usual issues about lesbians are sinners, it is 19th century Italy after all.

So so far a run of the mill lesbian movie.

What adds to this movie is Angela's father, a traditional sicilian whose business is going down the pan. He always wanted a son not a daughter and made this clear to hs family, sometimes with his fists

Events directly related to Angela's father results in a plan that could see Angela and Sara living the rest of their lives together.

That's all I can tell you about this film without giving it away.

As a lesbian movie, I suppose it's okay. The acting was pretty good and the love scenes were genuinely portrayed. It's a little dark but worth watching.

Die Konkurrentin English Subtitles Lesbian Interest

Die Konkurrentin or the competitor is a German lesbian themed movie from 1997.

Katharina, a successful management consultant, and Maren meet at a party and the attraction between them is instant. problem is although Maren is a lesbian, Katharina is married with children.

Further complications occur when Maren gets employed as Katharina's assistant against Katharina's wishes. Maren's role is to act as a spy for Katharina's employers in return for career advancement. How does it all pan out?

It's one of those really predictable lesbian movies strictly for when there is absolutely nothing else on

We Have To Stop Now | Lesbian Web Series

We have to stop now is a lesbian web series with Cathy DeBuono [also in out at the wedding], Jill Bennett and Suzanne Westenhoefer.

Lesbians web series are getting better and better and 'we have to stop now' certainly delivers.

Basically based on the therapy sessions of a married lesbian couple. Gets a little complicated because they are both therapists themselves.

As a result of the success of their book 'How to succeed in marriage without even trying' they are followed everywhere by a camera crew making a documentary about them. Not a good thing when you are contemplating divorce.

Season 1 of 'we have to stop now' was pretty decent

Nikki And Helen Bad Girls

Bad Girls was a lesbian TV series in the UK which was such an amazing breath of fresh air. Before L word there was bad girls. Surprising because of it's bold lesbian content and the possibility that the girl could get the girl

Bad girls is a prison drama [hang on, I can almost here your heavy sighs], this one was really good, at least the first three seasons were
Basically Nikki Wade is an out lesbian and previously successful business women who is in prison for murdering a police officer. From the start you see Nikki is angry and has a problem with the authorities. We eventually find out why, but initially her angst which she lavishes on her prison warden Helen Stewart is a little confusing. Helen Stewart, a senior prison warden with an ever so sexy Scottish accent, is just one of those nice, well meaning women who wants to get the best out of her prisoners. She believes firmly in rehabilitation and a second chance and all that.
Eventually Helen and Nikki's constant friction develops into a mutual curiosity and the bases of an award winning and totally compulsive TV show

Similar to The L word, Bad Girls was a show that appealed not only to lesbians but to straight women and men as well

Thought it deserved to be our first clip of 2010
